A number of other Middle-East Countries, notably pre-occupation Iraq and currently Iran, issue debt free currency because Islam, quite understandably, sees 'usery' as a crime against humanity, as did Jesus Christ.
Here you go - some further revelations about the Libyan economy
Have we been snookered into war again? The USA media portrayed conditions in Libya as people living in poverty, starving, with high unemployment while Gaddafi used the nation’s wealth for foreign investments to enhance his & his family’s personal wealth.
In truth every person in Libya of working age receives a USA equivalent $1,000/ month whether they work or not. This is their share of nationalized oil & investment profits. It is an individual choice to work outside the home or not. In the Arab culture where several generation & unmarried women live together in one household a family can live quiet comfortably with their combined royalty income. Oil revenues also funds education, health care, infrastructure and military. Profits from foreign investment are added to the
national treasury to fund infrastructure modernization projects such as resurrecting the ancient aqueduct system, turning dessert into an ocean of wheat, reducing Libya’s foreign food dependence. Under Gaddafi’s management Libya is basically debt free (its debt = monthly operating expenses), the people pay no income or sales tax and its currency is backed by gold. In fact Libya’s Dinar is so strong the government was considering a plan that would require payment for Libyan products to be either in Dinars or other gold or mineral backed currency, rather than the international reserve currency, the dollar. This, as Iraq’s Saddam Hussein found out, is something the USA absolutely will not allow. The USA will go to any length including war, violent regime change, or global economic destabilization to protect the dollars as the world reserve currency. The dollar has no collateral value, it is backed instead by the might of the USA’s nuclear armed military, which in recent years the government has demonstrated its willingness to use with or without UN, NATO or even Congressional support.

So what’s going on in Libya? Why in a nations where poverty, starvation, homelessness, are not an issue did the peaceful protests by youth of Banghazi in support for their brothers in Tunisia & Egypt turn into protests against their government? Why, unlike the national protests of its neighbors did the Libyan peaceful demonstrations remain isolated to Banghazi rather than spread to every population center, including Tripoli? Why did the peaceful demonstration of Banghazi’s youth turn into an armed rebellion especially in light of the success of the non-violent revolutions of its neighbors?
Is this another United States Institute of Peace (USIP)[http://www.USIP.org] operation similar to the Orange revolution in Ukraine (2004) or the Rose revolution in Georgia (2003) where covert USA operative incite impressionable youth into civil disobedience, and rebellion, destabilizing government leading to regime change? The USA military for decades has brainwashed recruits to discard their family & social mores and religious beliefs, to dehumanize the enemy enabling them to kill, torture and follow orders of commanding officers without question. Recently these well established brainwashing techniques were modified & specifically aimed
at impressionable, rebellious youth of academia. The USIP provides a mechanism to transfer these military techniques and by infiltrating universities it can quietly identify vulnerable students & leaders, educate them in techniques of civil disobedience & peaceful protest, start discrediting regime, accuse it of corruption and provoke civil disobedient with regime change the only demand.

These operations generally, upon inception, have USA approved leadership ready to step in once the regime is brought down, Libya is no different. The opposition ruling counsel are western educated former Gaddafi regime ministers of finance, oil & justice. Their service during the rebellion has provided them the popular support necessary to take control once the Gaddafi is ousted. Unfortunately it was necessary for NATO to destroy the Libyan infrastructure to assure control of Libya’s natural resources is transferred to USA/EU to pay for the no fly zone and reconstruction contracts. USA/EU corporation will make billions in profit off Libya taking it from a debt free nation with gold backed currency to a debtor nation.
So will the re-colonization of Libya last? Or go the way of the Orange & other eastern European Revolution of the early 2000’s.? Will the Libyan people stand by and watch their oil privatized, the $1,000 monthly royalty, free education & health care taken away,
replaced with an income & sales taxes, health insurance premiums, and tuition? Will they accept foreign occupation troops, imposition of martial law and delay path to democracy? Will they accept foreign contractors rebuilding their infrastructure & pumping their oil? Unlike the peoples of Tunisia & Egypt the Libyan have had an armed revolt from the beginning, therefore
after the months of bloodshed do we think they will just sit down & let another colonial power rape their nations wealth & impoverish the population, especially after they have lived the good life? Or will there be continuous war as there has been in Iraq & Afghanistan?

Just because the USA wants the dollar to remains the reserve currency and capitalism the economic policy of world doesn’t mean we the USA taxpayer should support the efforts of the privileged 1% for world domination using our military & taxes. It’s time for us to take the blinders off. Turn away from decades of national brainwashing. Let the people of other nation determine their own type of government & economic policy. While we follow their lead, and proceed with our own peaceful revolution replacing the government for and of the privileged, with one for and of all the people.
